Ayodhya:The Bajrang Dal's 'self defence' camp in Ayodhya to impart training in weapons to saffron cadres has come under the scanner.

Police have registered a case against Bajrang Dal activists for the viral video showing self defence training in weapons in Ayodhya on Wednesday.

The case has been registered under section 153 A of the IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion), police said.

Hailing the police action, NCP leader Majid Memom said, "What was happening at the camp in Ayodhya was wrong. It's criminal to do such things.

It was wrong for the Governor to support them. I am glad that action is being taken." C

ongress leader Rita Bahuguna said, "Any activity that violates the idea of secularism is condemnable; the authorities were late in filing the FIR."

Bajrang Dal has defended its action video saying they have not done anything wrong.

"We will review it, will take legal advice. Bajrang dal has not done anything wrong," VHP spokesperson Sharad Sharma said.

The video of a mock drill purportedly showed some volunteers wearing skull caps at the camp held in Karsevakpuram the VHP workshop in Ayodhya.

A day after the video went viral, Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik on Tuesday maintained that there was nothing wrong in it.

Photographs of cadres brandishing rifles, swords and even lathis at the self-defence camps held in some Bajrang Dal-managed schools have gone viral.
