Lucknow:�Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Beni Prasad Verma on Friday joined Samajwadi Party has been holding joined �old colleague.

Addressing a joint press conference with Beni Prasad Verma, SP party leader welcomed him into the party fold.
Azam also said that it is the issue of debate in the party that why Beni Prasad had left the party.
Cabinet minister Shivpal Yadav said that he used to meet Beni Prasad very often.
Addressing the media, party president Mulayam Singh said Beni Prasad is his oldest colleague and his presence is good for the party.
He also said he is happy with Beni rejoining the party.
"It was Beni Prasad who named the party as Samajwadi Party," said Mulayayam.
According to reports, Beni Prasad Verma was feeling sidelined in the Congress after a severe debacle in the 2014 General Elections.
According to ETV reports, Beni may seek a ministerial post for his son.
Verma was once a close confidant of the Samajwadi Party supremo but was gradually sidelined after Amar Singh came into the picture.
The Kurmi leader quit the party in 2007 and joined the Congress before 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
Verma had earlier slammed Mulayam Singh Yadav saying he is not even fit to sweep PM's house.
Verma had made these comments in 2013 when he was a Union minister in the UPA government.
He had even termed the SP as the party based on "lies and fraud" and that it will be finished by the Congress.
