END of VVIP culture as govt bans Red Beacon from May 1st

Tahlka News Bureau
New Delhi: Modi Government has decided to ban laal batti or beacons from all VVIP's vehicles. Only emergency vehicles will be allowed to use blue beacons. From 1st May no one will be using Red Beacons any more on the top of their vehicle. The decision has came from Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari as he too removes red bacon from his own car. The step has been taken to END VVIP culture from the country.

"This government is a government of common masses and has decided to abolish VIP culture of beacon lights and sirens," Mr Gadkari said after a cabinet meeting.

Once this comes into effect, officials of only five categories will be allowed to use the beacons and they are Prime Minister, President, Vice-president, Chief Justice of India, and the Lok Sabha Speaker.

The decision comes just days after the Amarinder Singh government in Punjab had issued a formal notification on 15 April, prohibiting the use of red beacons on all vehicles barring those belonging to a few high dignitaries, a step aimed to end the VIP culture in Punjab.
