New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addresses International Yoga festival 2017 in Rishikesh via video conferencing. while addressing a huge gathering modi speaks about the benefits and relevance of doing yoga in our daily lives he said yoga helps to strengthen and control climate change and curb terrorism as it makes people disciplined. "There is ample evidence that practising Yoga helps fight stress and lifestyle related issues.It disciplines people and therefore, has the strength to control climate change," World is today threatened by challenges-terrorism, climate change. There should be peace among nations.
He also stated that Yoga was about attaining mukti. "Yoga is not about personal gains. It is about what one can get rid of and one can give up. Instead of attainment, Yoga shows us the path to Mukti," Modi said adding that it's better than any other form of physical exercise.
"Through Yoga, we will create a new Yuga of togetherness and harmony," he said. He also congratulated the organisers of the event and said that he hoped the event was a huge success.
While speaking at the event, Modi also spoke about his goverment's efforts to make Yoga a global phenomenon through the International Yoga Day. The United Nations had in 2015 recognised June 26 as International Yoga Day after the Narendra Modi government promoted Yoga aggressively.
The festival that is seeing participation from 70 countries, will end on March 7. It is organised annually in Rishikesh by Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board in alliance with Ministry of Ayush, Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam and Parmarth Niketan Ashram. The yoga festival was inaugurated by the Governor of Uttrakhand Krishan Kant Kaul.
