New Delhi: Cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu joined Congress Party on Sunday. Former union minister Ajay Maken and congress vice president Rahul Gandhi felicitated Sidhu at Party Head Quarter in Delhi.

While addressing press conference in the morning Sidhu said "I am a born Congressman, have come back to my roots". He will be likely to contest the upcoming assembly election of punjab from Amritsar east constituency.

Sidhu also kick the issue of drugs in punjab he said "Drugs are a reality in Punjab, lives of youth are being destroyed".

On the Akali Dal Party, Sidhu said the party has now been reduced to dynasty politics "Akali Dal was a pious movement once but has now reduced to a dynasty."

Navjot Singh Sidhu also clear on his relation with Captain Amarinder Singh, saying there was no reason why two people who have differences cannot sit across a table and discuss an issue when two nations can. "I am ready to work under anybody. The Congress high command decides. My goal is the people of Punjab, it's not an individual's battle."
