Kolkata: RCB skipper Virat Kohli, during his unbeaten 75-run knock against KKR on Monday, surpassed Chris Gayles 733-run mark tocreate a new record of most runs in a single season.
The talented right-hander already has 752 runs under his belt this season and is very much likely to add more given RCB still have two matches remaining.
Gayle scored 733 runs for RCB in 15 matches during the 2012 edition and Kohli has moved to 752 in the ongoing edition off only 12 games.
This is not the first record the RCB skipper has smashed this season.
With three tons, heentered record books by becoming the only player in tournaments history to hit three tons in a single season.
Kohli also became the first captain to score more than 500 runs in IPL in three different seasons and in doing so, he broke Sachin Tendulkar's record, who had achieved this feat twice as captain of Mumbai Indians.
Sachin plundered 618 runs in the 2010 edition and 553 runs in the 2011 edition of the IPL.
Kohli, entered the ninth season of the IPL with 625 runs for India in Twenty20 internationals this year - including seven half-centuries - which is the most for any batsman in the format in a calendar year.
