Delhi Airport hosts Skylympics aviation multi sport event

New Delhi: Delhi International Airport (DIAL), a subsidiary of GMR Group, today launched its first edition of Skylympics, a first of its kind aviation only sporting event. The three day event was inaugurated by the national sports icons Shooter Mr. Gagan Narang and Cricketer Mr.Nikhil Chopra. 



Skylympics has brought together the entire Delhi Airport community comprising of thousands of members on a platform. These includes airlines, retail concessionaires, ground handlers, cargo companies and aerocity developers among others.


 
A total of 22 teams comprising of 770 players are participating to play a total of 411 matches. Skylympics features six popular sports Cricket, Athletics, Volleyball, Badminton, Football and Table Tennis. Each sport will have round robin format where five to six teams will play against each other in one pool. Sporting icons Zaheer Khan and Dhanraj Pillay are expected to come for the closing ceremony on 5th March 2017.

Several Indian sporting stars like Geeta Phogat ,Jagdish Kaliraman and Sangram Singh Indian Wrestlers lauded the unique initiative by DIAL and expressed their views about the sporting extravaganza.
