Lucknow: Dr. Madan Lal Brahma Bhatt is Professor of Radiotherapy at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Lucknow. He was born in Jaunpur District of Uttar Pradesh from where he did his schooling till High School. He obtained his MBBS degree from the King George's Medical College (KGMC), Lucknow in 1982, following which he worked in Short Service Commission of the Army Medical Core in the Indian Army. Under military service, he was posted in Lucknow, Ladakh, Gurdaspur, Jhansi among other postings.
Madan lal returned back to KGMC and completed his MD in Radiotherapy in 1995.
After attaining the credentials of nation's service in the army and educational qualifications, he was appointed as lecturer in the Department of Radiotherapy in Aligarh Muslim University, where he worked from 1996-2002.
He returned back to Lucknow in 2002 as an Associate professor where he has been since then. For now, he is on leave from KGMC and is on deputation to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital as Head of the Department in Radiotherapy.
During his academic career Dr.Bhatt has earned a lot of honours and served in several capacities across a number of regional and national forums.
Dr. Madan Lal Brahma Bhatt has served as Joint Secretary of the UP Chapter of the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India from 1998-200 and then from 2005-2007. He was a Sr. Vice President of the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India. Dr.Bhatt was the recipient of the prestigious Drs.Neil/Joseph fellowship of the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India in the year 1997. He was the Medical Superintendent of the Chhatrapati Shahu ji Maharaj Medical University (the erstwhile King George's Medical College/University) from 2007-2008. He was the Appraiser for the broad specialty of Radiotherapy by National Board of Examination, New Delhi for Diplomat National Board (DNB) during 2007-2008.
He also serves in the Medical Council of India as an assessor and coordinator for the recognition of MBBS courses.
Dr.Bhatt is also a very thoughtful teacher and prolific scientist. He has taught extensively across medical colleges in both MBBS and MD level courses. He is currently guiding a handful of PhD students through their research.Most of Dr.Bhatt's research is focussed on gene/biomarkers and biomolecular characterization for various kinds of cancers. His research is being funded by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Uttar Pradesh Council of Science and Technology.
He has supervised over 20 MD thesis during his nearly two decades as teaching faculty. Dr.Bhatt is credited with over 60 national and international peer reviewed journal articles. He has been actively participating in various national and international conferences, attending close to a 100 conferences and being a presenting speaker at nearly half of these.
