New Delhi:�The Nirankari sect decided to make Savinder Kaur, widow of the deceased Baba Hardev Singh as head of the sect. She will be the first woman and the fifth in line to head the sect founded in 1929.
According to reports, the announcement regarding her succession was made on Tuesday evening.
She will be leading the sect in performing the last rites of baba Hardev Singh, head of the Nirankari sect who was killed in a car crash in Montreal, Canada on May 13.
Savinder,�was married to Hardev Singh in 1975.
Savinder was offered the ceremonial �dupatta� at the anointment ceremony attended by the 21-member management committee headed by its president JRD Satyarthi.

The mortal remains of the chief of Nirankari sect Baba Hardev Singh were brought to Burari Road in Delhi on Monday.
His last journey will begin at 8 AM on Wednesday from Ground No.8 and conclude at Nigam Bodh Ghat and his last rites will take place at the CNG Crematorium at 12 noon.
