Srinagar: Two militants and a two soldiers were killed on Saturday during an operation. The Indian Army foiled infiltration bid in Nowgam, while the the militants were trying to sneak into Indian surface. The entire has been cordoned offand the operation is underway.
An armu spokesperson, Col Rajesh Kalia told the media that infiltration bid was foiled by the alert troops along the LoC in Naugam and in this two terrorists were killed, adding that two soldiers also lost their lives in the fierce gun battle.
The terrorists as per reports, took shelter in the Behak forest area. It is unclear if the terrorists in th dark have flead back to Pakistani side are still hiding in the area, according to a media report. The report suggest, that there could be four to five terrorists.
"An infiltration bid was foiled by alert troops along the LoC in Naugam sector. Two infiltrating terrorists were killed," an Army official said.
The fresh infiltration comes after two-days visit of Defence Minister Arun Jaitley in the restive region of Kashmir Valley. Jaitley, along with the Army Gen Bipin Rawat reviewed the security cover, instructing the armed forces to launch stiff retaliation in case of provocation from across the borders.
Earlier, many cases of infiltration has been witnessed over the past few months, with the situation escalating following the mutilation of two Indian soldiers – Naib Subedar Paramjeet Singh and Head Constable Prem Sagar by Pakistan's Border Action Team in Krishna Ghati sector.
On May 14, two terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit were gunned down by security forces in Handwara's Waripora district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Two militants were killed in Kashmir'S Kulgam district on May 5.
