New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) asked the Supreme Court on Thursday, to revive the charges made against the BJP politicians involved in the demolition of Babri Masjid case , Senior BJP leader LK Advani along with 12 others are alleged to be a part of a larger conspiracy.
The nations prime federal law agency told the top court that Advani and others haven't faced any conspiracy charges based on technical reasons. The CBI wants the trail to be held in the Lucknow court.
Hundreds of Hindu activists demolished the centuries-old BabriMasjid in 1992 and knocking it down with axes, hammers and other tools, triggering a cycle of communal violence which claimed more than 3,000 lives.
The controversial demolition was the climax in the dispute between Muslim and many Hindus, who believe the Mughal emperor Babur razed a temple at the site believed to be the birthplace of Hindu god Ram.
While, the SC has hinted that it might revive the criminal conspiracy charges made against the BJP and other Hindu right-wing leaders in the demolition case which were dropped by a special trail court in Lucknow on technical grounds. Other than Advani, the accused include senior BJP leader Murli Manohaer Joshi, Uma Bharti and Kalyan Singh, and a number of other Vishwa Hindu Parishad members.
