GST Bill 2017: Uttar Pradesh assembly passes GST Bill, introduces E-tendering

Lucknow:The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday approved the GST Bill ahead of introducing it in the forthcoming assembly session so that the new tax regime could be rolled out from July 1, state government spokesperson and Minister Sidharth Nath Singh said.


The decision was taken at the fifth cabinet meeting of the state government, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

In another decision by the cabinet, all manual tendering in three months will be replaced by e tendering and e procurement process all over Uttar Pradesh, said Singh, also the Health Minister.

Singh also said that from now on Uttar Pradesh Day will be celebrated on January 24, as the day of its formation. The celebrations are necessary for the giving a strong identity to the state, he added.

The cabinet has approved the transfer policy 2017-18 for government officials and employees under which transfers can only take place before June 30. Official and employees who are in one post for long duration will also be re-jigged soon, he said.

The state cabinet also approved rules for the district mineral board and instructed that a new policy will have to be implemented within three months.
