NEW DELHI: Two army personnel's were martyred and four Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed in a gun battle between the security forces and terrorists in Frisal area of Kulgam , in south Kashmir on Sunday.In a joint operation carried by the army, police and the para-military forces searched the houses throughout the area. While searching the suspected houses, the One Rashtriya Rifles personnel located the false ceiling where the militants were hiding.
The ultras opened fire, as they were spotted. the gun fight lasted for several hours killing four terrorists of the banned Hizbul Mujhadeen outfit in the exchange of fire, while three others managed to escape into the jungle nearby. Hunt is on to nab them.
Five soldiers were also injured and two of them succumbed to their injuries before they could be evacuated for treatment. Although four weapons have also been recovered from the scene of the gunbattel, said a police official. Three jawans were airlifted to Army's 92 base hospital , there conditions were stated to be stable.
The Director General of Police S P Vaid said that security forces had achieved a major success by gunning down the four militants.
"However, it is unfortunate that two soldiers were martyred and son of the house owner got caught in the cross-fire and succumbed to his injuries," he added .
Whereas, Minister of State said Jitender Singh told reporters in Delhi that terrorists on Indian soil; is being sponsored by Islamabad. "There has been a series of evidence and it is now no longer a secret that h\the entire terrorism on Indian soil, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, is being promoted, prepetuated and sponsored by Islamabad,"" he said.
Early on February 4, the security forces shot dead two top Kashmiri militants while they were trying to enter the politically sensitive Sopore town in Jammu and Kashmir's north-western Baramulla district in which two police official's were injured in response to the duo encounter.
