NEW DELHI: Looks like the long haul for the farmers is not going to end soon, as another farmers has committed suicide by hanging from a three in Madhaya Pradesh's Hoshangabad on Monday. The 68-year-ol, deceased farmer has been identified as Makhan Lal Digolia.
Yesterday, a 52-year-old farmer from Madhaya Pradesh's Sehoe, committed suicide in the hometown of Chief Minister Shivraj Ringh Chuhan. The farmer ended his life by eating poison. However, during the autopsy no poison was found in his body. His son said, "My father was very much depressed due to his debts. He had loans worth about 4 lakhs. He also had loans from the village. About 1-2 lakh worth of money. All his crops had dried."
Last week, the farmers protested in Madhaya Pradesh took a violent turn on June 6, in which five persons were killed after police fires at the mob in Mandsaur. Moreover, the farmers protest witnessed bandh in other district of Madhaya Pradesh including Neemuchn, Dharn, Ratlam and Jhabua.
Shivraj Singh Chauhan had launched an indefinite fast on Sunday with an appeal for peace to meet the farmer leaders. However, he later ended his fast claiming that the peace has returned to the state but it vanished from the state as there has been two suicide during the past 48 hours. Before ending his fasting he assured that those involved in the killing of the four farmers in Madsaur will be punished severely.
