New Delhi:�Indian spiritual leader Baba Hardev Singh passed away in a car accident, accident due to tyre bursts in Canada today.�He was accompanied by two of his son-in-law at the time of the crash, which remains a serious condition.
The accident took place in Montreal, Canada. He was aged 62.

Baba Hardev Singh, chief priest of the Nirankari sect, was killed in a car accident in Canada's Montreal.
Baba Hardev Singh was born to Gurbachan Singh and Kulwant Kaur on February 23, 1954 in Delhi. After his early schooling at Rosary Public School, Sant Nirankari Colony, Delhi, in 1963 he joined Yadavindra Public School, Patiala, a boarding school.
In 1971, he joined the Nirankari Sewa Dal as its primary member.
The Sant Nirankari Movement or Universal Brotherhood Movement, which was started by Baba Buta Singh in early 19th century, believes in the importance of a living leader.
Sikhism, on the other hand, believed in the Sikh scriptures as their final guru.
It was this difference that caused the Sant Nirankari movement, which separated from mainstream Sikhism in 1929.
Satguru Gurbachan Singh was assassinated by fundamentalist Sikhs belonging to Akhand Kirtani Jatha who were wary of the growing power of the Nirankari Mission.
Sant Nirankari Mission was established in 1929, by Baba Buta Singh who previously belonged to the Nirankari sect.
He was succeed by Baba Avtar Singh.
The mission flourished after it shifted base to Delhi from West Punjab, after partition of India in 1947. By 2009, the organization had over 100 branches in 27 countries.
The mission is grown to be a global entity with over 2000 centres around the world .
