Lucknow: Participants in the 'Walk of Hope' organized by the Manav Ekta Mission, Pankaj Kakkar and PN Shanvas today called on the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and apprised him of the objectives of the Yatra.
Welcoming Mr. Kakkar and Shanvas, the Chief Minister appreciated their objectives behind the Yatra and said that he would be present at an event in Kanpur in January 2016 when the Yatra reaches there. It may be pointed out here that the Yatra organized by the Manav Ekta Mission on Swami Vivekanand's birth anniversary on January 12, 2015 from Kanyakumari will conclude in Kashmir in 2016, covering more than 7,500 km and with an aim of striking unity and equality among the followers of various religions, find systems and arrangements for a long term life employment, women empowerment, community health, spreading education and development of youth.
Every day members of the Yatra walk on foot some 15-20 km and stay at some village or town on route and hold a positive discussion with people there to maintain social harmony and unity. They all hold all-religion prayer meetings. Members from all religions are participating in the Yatra.
