New Delhi: The Election for the post of Vice President of India will be held on August 5 and the results will be declared on the same day, the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Chief Election Commissionor Nasim Zaidi said notification for the election wil be issued on July 4 and nominations can be submitted by July 18.
The date to withdraw their names from the Vice Presidential Election candidature is July 21. However, the voting process will be on August 5 from 10 AM to 5 PM, Nsaim Zaidi said. The election will be conducted through a select ballot.

The electoral college which elects the Vice President, who is also the ex officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha.
The total strength opf the two Houses is 790, but there are some vacancies.
Also, the Election Commission have also announced the date for the election of Rajaya Sabha seat from Goa.

Congress' Shantaram Naik is retiring on July 28 and the election to the seat will take place on July 21. The counting of vote will take place the same evening.
Nail, officials in EC said, will be able to cast his vote for the July 17 Presidential poll.
