Patna:Three people were on Sunday detained by the police in connection with senior journalist Rajdeo Ranjan's murder in Bihar's Siwan district.
Earlier, four suspects were detained in connection with the killing. Also, a manhunt was launched to arrest the killers soon.
According to sources, the Special Branch of Police, in 2007, had received information that 24 persons in the district are on the hit-list of the criminals and there is threat to their lives.
Ranjan was among those 24. In 2005, he was attacked by some persons outside his office and was severely beaten. He continued to fearlessly deliver news even after the attack and write against the crimes and happenings in the region.
The BJP on Saturday demanded a CBI inquiry into the killing and hinted about the alleged involvement of the jailed RJD strongman Mohammad Shahabuddin in the murder.
Even Ranjan's father Radhakrishna Choudhary said that he fully understands who conspired to kill his son and that only a CBI investigation of the case will have any credibility.
Rajdeo Ranjan, the Siwan bureau chief of the Hindi newspaper, which is part of the HT Media, was shot dead on Friday at a busy market near the Station Road in the district.
