Lucknow:UP Assembly polls are approaching fast, ruling Samajwadi Party and Rashriya Lok Dal are likely to sign a pact soon, say sources.

According to reports, the final decision on the alliance is likely to be taken in New Delhi after a meeting between RLD chief Ajit Singh and SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav.

SP is eyeing Jat vote in West UP ahead of polls. Jats have been a traditional vote bank of RLD.

The seat arrangements will be taken only after the SP chief Mulayam Singhs meeting with Ajit Singh.

Earlier, there were reports that RLD will merge with JD(U), but plans on this issue seem to have fallen apart.
