Sultanpur: FIR has been lodged against Arun Verma who is the youngest MLA of India and the member of Samajwadi Party from Sultanpur Vidhansabha. There is a allegation on him of gang rape in Sultanpur of a girl, sultanpur police on Sunday recovered the body of a 20-year-old woman, who had earlier accused the MLA of raping her, Police is awaiting the autopsy report the victim before confirming the cause of death although, according to one officer, the injury marks around her neck suggested she was strangulated.
In 2013, the victim had stated before a magistrated that eight persons, including Samajwadi Party MLA Arun Verma, of gangraping her. The police later gave the MLA a clean chit. They did, however, file a chargesheet against a few others in the case and the trial is ongoing.
UP police on Friday said his mobile phone's location on the day of crime was traced in the state capital. "The location of MLA's mobile phone on September 17/18 when the incident took place was in Lucknow. The probe is on in the matter," IG law and order R K Vishwakarma told.
On November 20, a man approached a court for registering FIR against the MLA alleging that his 18-year-old daughter was raped by Verma and others on September 18 in Sultanpur. The MLA has denied the allegation, saying it is a "political conspiracy" to malign his image.
He had claimed that on the day the alleged crime took place he was in Lucknow. "On that day I was in Lucknow to attend proceeding of Vidhan Sabha This can be verified from assembly records and CCTV footages," he had claimed.
